History

Flythe Construction Company was founded on August 1, 1961 in Raleigh, N.C. by Jim Flythe and eventually incorporated in 1963. Initially, Jim Flythe was responsible for all engineering, estimating, expediting, and purchasing as well as management. Under his direction, the company’s primary building interests steadily expanded from small commercial, institutional, and store fit-up construction work to include churches, office buildings, veterinary hospitals, and warehouses.

In 1970, Flythe Construction Company invested in an economical, functional, and innovative new technology; it acquired a STAR pre-engineered metal building dealership. As a result of the partnership, Flythe Construction Company has been able to expand the scale, scope, and size of its commercial and industrial construction projects to include 8,000 square foot veterinary hospitals, 38,000 square foot churches, 180,000 square foot institutional buildings, 58,000 square foot office complexes, 70,000 square foot warehouses, and 285,000 square foot manufacturing complexes.

Flythe Construction Company’s continued commitment to growth is best exhibited through its participation in continuing education curriculum for its skilled, semi-skilled, and managerial personnel. Flythe Construction Company realizes that it is our dedicated and experienced employees that enable us to produce a quality product at a reasonable price and provide our customers with fair, honest, prompt, and professional service. As a result, employees are encouraged to remain informed of technological advances as well as current construction methods thereby continually improving the quality of their work.
